The following clinics are available in the surgery:

  • Coronary Heart Disease (weekly clinics available, ask at reception for details)
  • Heart Failure  (weekly clinics available, ask at reception for details) pregnant_19
  • Diabetic Clinic (Held every Thursday). Bloods and general health checks are done in the morning, review clinics are held in the afternoon and we also have a Chiropodist and Dietician available, along with on site retinal screening
  • Dietician (Monthly clinics, please discuss with one of the GPs, the Nurse Practitioner or the Nursing team before making an appointment)
  • Chiropody  (Monthly clinics, please discuss with one of the GPs, the Nurse Practitioner or the Nursing team before making an appointment)
  • Asthma  (weekly clinics available, ask at reception for details)
  • COPD  (weekly clinics available, ask at reception for details)
  • Family Planning and Sexual Health (Monday 5.30-7.30pm) Run by Dr Tarn. If you are not sure what to do about your contraception, or are worried about sexually transmitted infections (STI), then come along for advice. We fit and remove coils and implants, and can give you up to date information on all available contraceptive methods, provide emergency contraception if necessary and do STI checks to save a trip to the hospital. 
  • Minor Surgery (Held everyTuesday from 8.30-10.00). We will remove; moles and other skin lesions, ingrowing toenails, skin tags and provide cryotherapy. We suggest you come and discuss this with one of the GPs or the Nurse Practitioner first to make sure it is something we are able to treat. Dr Taylor and Dr Gardner also do joint injections for shoulder problems, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow etc. This should be discussed with them before an appointment is made.  
  • Maternity Care (o ur community midwives hold regular maternity care clinics at the practice every Monday and Tuesday afternoon)  
  • Baby Clinic (at the practice every other Tuesday afternoon and the health centre on Tuesday afternoons for immunisations)
  • First Steps Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. You can self refer to this service. (call  0300 1239122, open 8.30 - 5.30pm Mon-Fri)
  • Drug and Alcohol Recovery Team (appointments made via GP) 
  • Teenage Health Clinics (Monday afternoons) run by Sarah Doherty

  • Dermatology Clinic via referral to Cumbria Medical Services
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome repair via referral to Cumbria Medical Services
  • Physiotherapy via referral to Wigton, Cockermouth or Maryport
  • Opthalmology via referral to Wigton
 

Exercise on Referral:

Provides a 12 week rolling programme designed to help people become more active and equip them with the knowledge, skills and confidence to exercise regularly. The scheme is suitable for those with, or are at risk of Heart Disease, Diabetes, COPD or Cancer, as well as people experiencing problems such as Depression or stress. You would be need to contribute £2 per session and can ask for a referral form to be completed by any of the GPs, Nurse Practitioner or Nursing team. 
 
The service will be provided across Allerdale in the following venues;
  • Wigton - G&S Gym (Gary Thwaites)
  • Maryport - The Wave
  • Workington - Moorclose Leisure Centre
  • Cockermouth - Leisure Centre
